WWE Main Event Results: Winners, Twitter Reaction and Analysis from March 4

Donald WoodMar 5, 2014

This week’s Main Event was the first episode that was live on the WWE Network, and the company went all-in with an entertaining card of matches.

With WrestleMania XXX approaching fast (scheduled for Sunday, April 6), Main Event featured fan favorite and top Superstar Daniel Bryan squaring off against Kane in the continuation of the duo’s feud.

Not only was Bryan featured heavily in the broadcast, but The Usos also defended their titles against Los Matadores. In other action, Nikki Bella took on Alicia Fox.

Takeaways From SNME 44 ➡️

Here are all the winners, Twitter reaction and analysis from Tuesday’s Main Event.

Daniel Bryan Defeated Kane

Daniel Bryan is the biggest star in the WWE right now, and what better way to usher in the live era of Main Event than by kicking off the show with Bryan taking on his former friend and long-time foe Kane?

Kane was on the offensive for most of this match. Using his raw power and strength, Kane dominated Bryan by slowing down the pace of the bout and performing as methodically as possible.

While Kane dominated most of this match, there is no holding down Bryan. Twitter user Solid Knee Plus couldn’t hide his excitement about the outcome of this match:

Bryan is one of the most resilient Superstars in WWE history, and it’s almost impossible to hold down this underdog for an entire bout. As much as Kane is familiar with Bryan’s in-ring style from their time as a tag team, the undersized challenger is too talented to lose on Main Event.

This match had plenty of back and forth, but when Kane went for the chokeslam to finish the job, Bryan slipped out and rolled Kane up to steal the victory. This was a longer bout that proved how good each wrestler is in the ring.

Grade: A

Nikki Bella Defeated Alicia Fox

The Divas division has been absolutely awful for a long time, and the mediocrity continued on Tuesday’s Main Event when Nikki Bella defeated Alicia Fox in a bout that meant nothing.

Brie Bella was at ringside in support of her twin sister, and Aksana was there to be the backup for Fox. After these four women wrestled on Raw, there is a chance this is a storyline, but I seriously doubt the WWE cares enough to continue this past Tuesday.

While many fans hated this match, Wrestlezone’s Mike Killam gave it more credit than most:

Aksana tried to interfere in the match, but Brie managed to clear her from the ring. Nikki stole the win after hitting her finisher on Fox.

Grade: D

The Usos Defeated Los Matadores to Retain WWE Tag Team Championships

After winning the WWE Tag Team Championships on Monday’s episode of Raw, The Usos were scheduled to defend their titles in a rematch against the New Age Outlaws. Instead, they were forced to fend off Los Matadores.

Road Dogg and Billy Gunn came to the ring and claimed that Road Dogg was too injured to compete. After Brad Maddox confirmed the injury, The Usos were forced to take on Los Matadores with the titles on the line.

According to Maddox, the New Age Outlaws will get their rematch when Road Dogg is healthy, and that will likely take place on the biggest stage of them all, WrestleMania XXX.

LayfieldReport.com’s Jason Solomon commented on the situation:

As far as Tuesday’s title match goes, The Usos and Los Matadores put on an excellent match that featured two face teams. With plenty of high spots, reversals and two counts, this was a great showcase of the skills from both of these tag teams.

The Usos successfully defended their titles, but Los Matadores and El Torito had the last laugh when they attacked the New Age Outlaws and stood tall in the ring to close the show.
