The JoeSportsFan crew (Sebek, Bacott and Imig) started the show by talking something near and dear to their hearts; St. Louis and adult mens softball. As we discussed earlier this week, the St. Louis Cardinals brass is building a softball field smack dab next to Busch Stadium in preparation for this year’s MLB All Star Game on July 14th. In the first segment of Episode 17, we dove deeper into the phenomenon that is the Busch Stadium Softball Field and what it means for the surrounding areas of downtown St. Louis.
Our weekly “Wiffle Ball” round table was dominated by a plethora of “Saved by the Bell” references, due to the tremendous appearance by Zack Morris on the Jimmy Fallon Show. Who better to handle copious references to “Saved by the Bell” than one of our show favorites, Jimmy Traina (SI.com’s “Hot Clicks“)? Mr. Traina was joined by another “Blogs with Balls” (June 13th in NYC) panelist, Sarah Spain (Mouthpiece Sports), who dismantled the 16-week sausage fest on The JoeSportsFan Show.
Thank you, Sarah.
Round table topics include:
1.) Due to that little weasel Jimmy Fallon, word of a “Saved By the Bell” reunion is starting to circulate. If you could pick one 80s or 90s sitcom to reunite with only current versions of the actors, which would you choose?
2.) What, if any, local or national sporting event would cause you to camp overnight for a good position in the ticket line?
3.) Chad Johnson said the relationship between he and quarterback Carson Palmer is like ‘Brokeback Mountain’. Name a sports tandem who deserves the same label. The tandem does not have to be two teammates (meaning it could involve a player/coach or announcer/player etc).
4.) JoeSportsFan casting call: Pick one “Saved by the Bell” character and cast it with one current sports figure.
5.) Your Major League at-bat music must be the theme music from a past or present game show. What are you choosing?
Editor’s Note: we recommend subscribing to this weekly show through iTunes, so new episodes are automatically downloaded to your local computer and/or mobile device. However, we understand that some people believe Apple products are the devil, so we’ve developed a new “radio page” where you can download individual mp3 versions of current/past episodes…or listen to them directly on JoeSportsFan.com through our embedded media player. Now, carry on.
