Same Old Cubs

So much for the Cubs breaking out offensively.

Eleven men left on base, two walks and eight punchouts–same old Cubs.

How many quality starts can Chicago waste this season and still compete for the division title?

Yesterday I talked about Soto’s power stroke returning. When a player with Geo’s power starts spraying line drives you know the home runs will soon follow.

It’s easy to pile on Milton Bradley right now, but I’ve never seen a player more prone to tweaking a muscle than this guy.

We watched M.B. grimace running out of the box and I have to wonder if the guy is healthy enough to be playing?

I know Bradley stayed in the game, but if he needs more rest, give it to him.

Explain to me why Aaron Miles should be on this roster instead of Jake Fox?

In a world without 3-year, $30 million contracts Jake Fox starts in right field.

The huge let-down game costs the Cubs in the standings. Cardinals and Reds win, Brewers lose.

Cubs could’ve crawled to within 1.5 games back of Milwaukee. Instead, it’s back to fourth place and 2.5 games back.

Moreover, the numbers are not in Ryan Dempster’s favor for his Thursday afternoon start. He’s 1-3 on the road with a 4.15 ERA.

However, if the Cubs win Thursday they complete back-to-back road series wins and finish the trip 5-3–not bad considering all the one run games and extra innings played.

  • Cubs (29-27) are in fourth place.
  • W: Sampson (3-0) L: Guzman (2-1)
  • Chicago is 13-17 on the road.
  • They’re hitting nearly 30 points lower on the road than at Wrigley.
  • The Cubs are 20-8 when scoring first.
  • Ryan Dempster is 4-10 during his career against Houston.
