The San Francisco Giants Week 9 Review!

Numan Al-ShammaJun 10, 2009

Before I start my review, I want to send my congrads to Randy Johnson for his 300th win!

Now to the Giants. What a soggy week! Not only in Washington, D.C., but also in Florida!

Barry Zito has been pitching well with no real run support. This makes him equivalent to last years Matt Cain. They barely won the game against the Florida Marlins.

So far, the Giants have played well on the road trip. I am not surprised.  Look at the teams they were against. The Washington Nationals and Marlins, two teams who are real struggling to win. These games are onee they have to win to be in playoff talks.

Playoffs. Ha.

Giants’ fans, there is no way your team is going to the playoffs! This is a .500 team, nothing more, nothing less. If that is not enough, here are two more reasons why.

Reason #1.

The Dodgers. They are not going to lose their hold on first place. This is the only real chance the team has because of reason number two.

Reason #2.

The chances of an 81-81 team winning the wild card is impossible. Face the facts. The Giants seam like they are stuck on .500 and that’s where they’ll stay for the whole season.

Don’t believe me? What was their record at the end of April?10 wins,10 loses, which is .500.

What about May? 25-24, one game above .500.

Ok, what is their best record? 18-14. Four games above .500 and that lasted one game.

Look. I am not here to bash the Giants. I write to inform people about topics they may not have the facts on and to express my opinion.

To me, is not a team that will win enough games to get more than 5 games above .500. I have no reason to. Spotty offense and defense will not support the suberb pitching they have had.

I guess I am saying that the words The, Giants, going, and Playoffs should not be spoken in the same sentence. I do not want to hear them on KNBR after every win. So, STOP IT!
