What Are You Doing, White Sox?

D.A.Jun 7, 2009

The White Sox make zero sense. Watching their moves and batting order is unbearable. The decisions that management keeps making boggles the mind.

1. Why would you trade for Ramon Castro? He's awful. There were many alternatives that could've been sought. I would have rather the White Sox kept Corky Miller.

Sure, some offense is sacrificed, but he calls a much better game than Ramon Castro, which was evident in today's game.

Also, Castro's not good a producing runs offensively any ways. Comparing their catcher's ERA, Castro's is more than a whole run higher than Miller's (4.48 to 3.38). Castro has a big salary for a backup catcher, and he's definitely not worth it.

2. Nobody is getting consistent playing time. What's going to happen when Carlos Quentin comes back? Fields, Wise, Beckham, and Getz won't get the playing time to prove themselves because they keep getting rotated in and out.

3. The White Sox batting lineup made zero sense today:

LF
|Scott Podsednik
SS|Alexei Ramirez
RF|Jermaine Dye
1B|Paul Konerko
DH|Josh Fields
C|Ramon Castro
CF|Brian Anderson
2B|Chris Getz
3B|Gordon Beckham

Why is Josh Fields DHing over Jim Thome? Jim Thome has a better batting average against left-handed pitchers and against the Cleveland Indians. There's no need for Fields and Beckham to both be in the game.

Why is Ramon Castro starting? Pierzynski has by far been the hottest White Sox player. He has a .409 batting average and 1.071 OPS in the last seven days. Yes, catchers need their rest, but he just had a break three days ago.

The White Sox continue to make no sense, which is putting the team's season in jeopardy. It's hard and annoying to watch.

They should be wrecking the A's and Indians, not losing to them. Managerial and trade decisions are ruining this team.
