Manny Ramirez and Barry Bonds

Manny Ramirez is the second major star to stand up and confess his mistake!  He is not going to challenge a 50 day suspension for violating MLB's drug policy!  Think about it.  Most five-star caliber players have fought and denied violating the drug policy.  It does not matter if it was steroids or not.  He is facing the consequences of his actions and accepting them.  BRAVO!

What does this mean?  It means the Dodgers are slightly weaker now.  Can the Giants make a push for first?  Not likely.  True, they have started to play average baseball, but they are struggling in every game.  Also, the Dodgers have a stacked lineup to boot.  I have a gut feeling the Dodgers are really not going to suffer this blow they are being handed.

If the Giants are going to make a push, now is the time.  They have to win today against the Rockies and at least two of three games against the Dodgers.  I worry that the Dodgers are going to continue to steam roll their opponents at home, especially the Giants.  I don't think the National League West Division is as weak as people think.  My hope is for the Giants to get another solid hitter before the end of May. Chances of that happening are slim to none. They said so.

Oh and Giants fans, if you think a certain 40-plus year old slugger, who has not seen a pitch in more than two years, is the answer, well guess again!  Come guys, get real!  Expecting Barry Bonds, who has not played for a team in two years, to be the savior is complete lunacy! 

The team doesn't have time to easy his bat into the line up.  They need someone now, not in three to four weeks.  He is going to make things worse before he can be an asset.  I didn't think I would have to tell the fans of the Giants to MOVE ON!  I guess I was wrong.  It's a pity.

With that, I fade back into the crowd, praying that I am wrong about the Giants.  I was wrong about Zito.  He has had three awesome starts, with nothing but a 0-2 record.  Where is the offense they were supposed to have?  It better show up soon, or they are going to be in a world of hurt by July, if not sooner.
