Matt Cain: A Giant Pitcher
Matt Cain. What can I say? He is a worker. He is the only Giants' starter to pitch six complete innings or more in a game in the first eight games. The last two years he has not gotten any run support, but he still keeps the team in the game. He saved the bullpen from working more than they have to. Why he has not asked for a trade is beyond me. Maybe he has, I don't know, but I can tell you he does not deserve this. To go into each game knowing that he must pitch near perfect every time? I think it's really insane to ask this of him.
Okay, now the stats. Giants have pitched 67+ innings, but starters have pitched 40. That's less that 2/3. Take Cain out and the starters have pitched 27+ innings, the same amount that as their relievers. Say what you want, I think that's pathetic. Especially since the three Cy Young pitchers haven't gone passed the sixth inning once this year!

Yankees Call Up 6'7" Prospect 📈
Enough ripping the pitching. Hitting. Oh boy. On the road, starting last Friday with the game in San Diego, the Giants have struck out 51 times and walked only one in 40+ innings. Instead of being disciplined, they are hacking at everything. If they were making contact, I wouldn't care. But they are not! There is so much a coach can say to a team. It is up to the players to listen and it looks like nobody is. Maybe it's not the coaches, but the team that's at fault here.
Then there is the Giants defense. Let me paint the picture. On the left side of the infield, you have a third baseman who is learning that position and doing fairly well. Your shortstop, however, has no range making this side of the field weak. On the right, you have a good second baseman and first baseman. They are young, but they do their job.
In the outfield, from left to right, you have a fielder in his second or third year making rookie mistakes, and a good center and right fielder. Then there is the bench where there are a lot of inexperienced players who are making more than their share of mistakes.
I know this might be negative. Might be? Hell! It is negative! This is not a well rounded team! At best, this is a sub par team with two great pitchers and a hall of famer! I am calling it how I sees it and to me, it ain't pretty!
Till next time, peace, y'all.
