The Shakedown: Best Hockey Mustache Contestant No.2 (Humor)
Welcome back to the Shakedown!
Our latest “Monthly Mustache Shakedown” continues with JoeSportsFan.com’s look at the “Best Hockey Mustache.” Last week we began with an NHL godfather of mustache, none other than Lanny McDonald. This week, we fast forward to the present-day NHL crop of Mustached Americans — a group that is sadly thin in numbers, but robust in strength, led by mouth-forest troubadour George Parros of the Anaheim Ducks.
An integral part of the 2007 Stanley Cup champion Ducks, Parros’ last name in Greek translates to “My mustache will slice you in three.” He is perhaps the modern-day standard bearer for the Mustached American people — not just in hockey — but perhaps all of sports.

Parros’ commitment to our way of life is a life-long one. According to his Wikipedia page, Parros’ mouth tent was inspired by legendary rock star Sean "Greazy" Bryan, whoever that is. The Orange County Register once reported that while in college at Princeton, he had a fantasy hockey team called the All-Star Mustaches. While growing up, Parros and his brother Jeff — a nail technician — would have mustache-growing competitions. And now, after becoming well respected across all races and creeds for his bushy lip condensing ornament of justice, Parros often allows his flavor saving module to more fully flourish during each hockey season.
The Ducks have also demonstrated their commitment to people of Mustached American descent by selling mustaches at the team store inside Honda Center with the proceeds going to charity.
So there it is — your second candidate for the the “Best Hockey Mustache” as part of our latest and greatest “Monthly Mustache Shakedown.” Last week you brought some outstanding suggestions and we ask you to keep them coming for our final two candidates, as JoeSportsFan is only as good as the quality of your semi-worthless suggestions.
Bring it.
