Real Madrid Transfer Rumours: Blancos Reportedly Trying to Sell Sergio Ramos

Richard LangfordNov 29, 2013

According to Jose Ramon de la Morena of Spanish radio show El Larguero (h/t Marca.com), contract renewal talks between defender Sergio Ramos and Real Madrid are at a big enough standstill for Madrid to put the 27-year-old defender on the market for €60 million.

Currently third in the La Liga table with 34 points, Real Madrid has a buyout clause of €150 million on Ramos. However, according to De la Morena, Ramos told club president Florentino Perez that there are several clubs interested in signing him, but that huge sum is too much.

So, Perez reportedly admitted that €60 million would be enough for him to part with one of his captains.

That price may not be enough to get everyone in the club on board. La Liga Action indicates that manager Carlo Ancelotti doesn't sound so keen on a future without his defender:

Of course, this could also just be a hollow stance taken by the bench boss to help keep the chemistry of his squad in a good place.

As Pete Jenson of the Daily Mail notes, Ancelotti was upset with Ramos for allowing a Galatasaray player to get behind him in Real Madrid's last match and getting a red card for pulling him down. Ramos was sent off for the 17th time in his career on Wednesday.

Jenson also suggests that Chelsea or Manchester City are interested in the defender. With Ramos' former bosses, Jose Mourinho and Manuel Pellegrini, in charge at those clubs, those connections make some sense.

That is not to suggest a move to one of those clubs is inevitable. I'm sure there will be a lot more to all of these negotiations before some kind of resolution is found.
