Transfer Rumour Rater: Fabian Schar to Arsenal in the January Window

Having impressed in the Champions League win over Chelsea this week, FC Basel defender Fabian Schar appears to have attracted the attention of some Premier League suitors.

Danny Griffiths of the Metro claims that the 21-year-old is a January transfer target for Arsenal. 

An excerpt from Griffiths' report reads: "The defender, who was an intern with a Swiss bank a couple of years ago, turned in a money-spinning performance in Tuesday’s Champions League victory against Chelsea."

Contrary to the report—which describes him as a right-back—Schar, in fact, plays most of his football as a centre-back, although he is indeed capable of playing on the right side of defence.

Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny have both been in fine form for the Gunners this season, but would Arsene Wenger be smart to chase this aspiring talent?
