Everton Ribeiro Talks Reportedly Opened by Manchester United with Brazilian FA

Nick AkermanJun 7, 2018

Manchester United are in talks with the Brazilian FA over a complicated deal to sign Cruzeiro forward Everton Ribeiro, according to reports.

As noted by Nick Lustig of the Daily Star, there's plenty of work to do if the 24-year-old is going to seal a move to Old Trafford:

"

Ribeiro is only 60 per cent owned by Cruzeiro, with the other 40 per cent owned by a third party - something which would break Premier League rules.

According to reports in Brazil, United have begun talks with the Brazilian FA and are looking for the best solution in attempting to bring the former Corinthians man to England.

The tricky player, who possesses excellent dribbling skills and a willingness to cut inside from the right, previously stated his admiration for the Red Devils, reported by Alex Richards of the Mirror.

Although the same article suggests Liverpool are also interested, the player himself appears to have a preferred destination:

"I will continue doing my job here at Cruzeiro but plan on getting to a big club," Ribeiro said. "It's a dream I've had since young, I've always liked Manchester United."

The versatile player scored seven goals and provided 11 assists during 34 matches in Cruzeiro's title-winning campaign, per WhoScored.com. Although slight in physique, his technical ability and proficiency in possession is something United do not possess in abundance.

Ribeiro can play anywhere across the midfield, forward line, and has even been known to fill in as a full-back, although defensive duties are not his forte.

His attributes aren't too dissimilar to those of Remy Cabella at Montpellier, another player United have been linked with, reported by ESPN.

Lustig's report claims the Premier League side will have to pay around £7 million for the man who followed coach Marcelo Oliveira from Coritiba to Cruzeiro in a deal worth approximately £400,000, a fee reported by Jack Lang of the Mirror.

While Ribeiro's name is perhaps new to many United supporters, he is the type of creative talent Moyes should be monitoring as the Scottish manager looks to build his first squad as Old Trafford boss.
