Chicago Bulls vs. Utah Jazz: Live Score and Analysis
The Chicago Bulls pulled into Salt Lake City with heavy hearts as they play the Utah Jazz on Monday night. The team announced earlier in the day that former MVP point guard Derrick Rose "underwent successful surgery to repair his previously torn medial meniscus in his right knee." He will be "out for the remainder of the season, per the Bulls' official website.
The Bulls started their search for some kind of meaning amid their tortured existence against the league-worst Jazz on NBA TV. It did not go well. In a game marked by turnovers and missed shots, the Bulls fell to Utah in overtime 89-83. To give you some sense of how spirited the offenses were, the Jazz led at halftime 40-32.
The Bulls had three players with at least 10 rebounds and were led by Carlos Boozers with 26 points and 16 boards. Luol Deng scored 24 points and helped with the Bulls comeback in the second half when they trailed by as many as 10. But their offense fell flat in overtime.
Richard Jefferson was excellent down the stretch and finished with 15 points. Marvin Williams had his shot falling and tallied 17 points with nine rebounds. Gordon Hayward scored 15 and dished a career-high 12 dimes, including the cherry on the cheesecake as the 12th one came on an alley-oop to Jeremy Evans late in overtime. Derrick Favors and Joakim Noah each fouled out.
The Bulls drop their fourth consecutive game and will be on the road for two more. The Jazz doubled their win total on a night when they played without the injured Enes Kanter.
