Tavon Austin's Instant Fantasy Reaction After Week 12 Performance vs. Bears

Chris RolingNov 24, 2013

A new fantasy stud has emerged just in time for the playoff push.

St. Louis Rams rookie wide receiver Tavon Austin is officially a must-own player in all leagues. Austin's breakout performance in Week 10—two receptions for 138 yards and two touchdowns—was apparently not a fluke.

After a bye, Austin was at it again in Week 12 against the Chicago Bears. In the first quarter, Austin took a pitch and went the distance for a 65-yard score:

He later added two receptions for 39 yards to give him a total 15 fantasy points.

Coming into the game, Austin had been a fantasy dud as the first receiver selected in the 2013 draft. He had scored over 10 fantasy points just once and had been held without a receiving touchdown since Week 2 before his explosion two weeks ago.

Now Austin has surpassed 10 or more fantasy points in consecutive weeks, as he is clearly the favorite target of quarterback Kellen Clemens. Not only that—the coaching staff has discovered how to use its special weapon.

Austin owners would be wise to reap the benefits the rest of the season.
