Fight Breakdown and Prediction
Froch is one of the most consistently entertaining fighters in the sport, and Saturday’s fight with Groves will be no different. With both men fighting in front of their home crowd, the atmosphere for this main event will be electric.
Each man has a lot on the line. Froch is trying to protect his legacy as one of the most dominant fighters of the last five years, and Groves is trying to protect his unblemished record while taking the next step as a prize fighter.
The major difference will be the age and experience of these competitors.
There is no questioning how much more damage the 36-year-old Froch has absorbed during his long career, but that develops experience that can’t be taught. While Groves may only be 25 years old and in his best shape, he doesn’t have the in-ring composure that the veteran possesses.
Froch isn’t lightning fast. He isn’t very elusive. What he can do well is avoid taking damage while dishing out plenty of offense on his own. Froch is one of the hardest punchers in the middleweight divisions and has the ability to knock Groves out.
Groves must stick to his aggressive game plan if he wants to steal a victory in this bout. But when the heavy shots of the champion start landing and he gets rattled, the less experienced brawler will be in serious trouble.
Expect Froch to catch his challenger early in the fight and finish him with a eighth-round TKO.
Predicted Winner: Carl Froch via eighth-round TKO
