Man Utd Midfielder Anderson Expresses His Desire to Stay at Old Trafford

Christopher HeathmanNov 22, 2013

Out of favour midfielder Anderson has expressed his desire to stay at Manchester United, despite reports suggesting he could leave in January.

The Brazilian took to his "Instagram" account to tell his followers he is happy at the club.

The post said: "I'm very happy at Manchester United, it's the best club in the world. I do not want to leave. I love my team mates, the fans, I respect this club so much!"

Anderson is reportedly a loan target for Fulham in January with a regular role in David Moyes' side unlikely judging by the season so far.

However, with Man Utd running out of options in midfield since Michael Carrick suffered an Achilles injury, which will keep the England international sidelined for up to six weeks, Anderson could well be called upon during the winter period.

With the January transfer window so close, this could be his last real opportunity to prove to the new boss he has a part to play at Old Trafford.

Anderson looked certain to leave under Sir Alex Ferguson, but the change in regime provided the 25-year-old with time while Moyes assessed his squad.

With just two starts in all competitions and two appearances from the bench, the Brazilian has done very little to change the minds of the fans, who have already lost patience with him, or to convince Moyes he has what it takes to be a Man Utd player.

The career of Anderson has been marred by injuries and issues surrounding his weight and fitness, but in the early days of his Old Trafford career when he first arrived as a 19-year-old back in 2007, he showed early promise.

Man Utd fans still sing his name which remembers his performance against Arsenal in which he outplayed Cesc Fabregas. He also won over the Old Trafford faithful with a similar performance against Liverpool and even impressed Ferguson, who acknowledged how well he handled Steven Gerrard.

Since his early signs of promise, he has failed to fulfill the £18 million transfer fee paid to his former club Porto and this is expected to be his last season with club.
