Barcelona will look to continue their recent strong form with a La Liga battle against Granada.

The reigning league champs are three points clear of Atletico Madrid in the table thanks to 12 wins and a draw in 13 matches. They have won five in a row and have not lost in any competition this season.

Unfortunately, various injuries have piled up to make the club a bit shorthanded heading into Matchday 14.

This will make things interesting, as Granada have won two games in a row and will look to keep the momentum going this weekend. 

Each side has a lot to play for, which will make the match a thrilling contest for all 90 minutes. Here is a look at what you need to know for the upcoming battle.

Top Storyline: Will the Injuries Start to Affect Barcelona?

Goalkeeper Victor Valdes is the latest key player to go down for Barca. According to Dermot Corrigan of ESPN, a calf injury will keep the veteran out for six weeks.

According to The Independent, the club will also be without Xavi and Christian Tello for the match, as well as Lionel Messi, who is out until at least January.

Even if the club's incredible depth, it is hard to overcome these types of losses. Messi is one of the best players in the world, and Tello is someone who would come in to replace him. However, manager Gerardo Martino has to keep looking for options.

Additionally, Xavi has been one of the steadiest players for Barcelona while always seemingly making the right pass in the midfield. Meanwhile, the injury to Valdes means Jose Pinto must take over in net. 

These types of losses would destroy any team in the world. Even if the club is able to survive in this match, the absences will eventually catch up to them.

Prediction: Barcelona 2, Granada 1

While Barcelona are used to getting three or four goals on the scoresheet with regularity, Granada are actually strong defensively. In fact, only Barca and Real Madrid have allowed fewer goals in La Liga this season.

Combining this with the fact that the home team will be limited offensively, and the match will be closer than many think.

That being said, Barcelona still have plenty of ability on the attack. Neymar should become the go-to scoring option, with Cesc Fabregas and Alexis Sanchez also excelling around the net. These players will be able to create enough chances necessary to secure a victory.

Granada forward Youssef El-Arabi has the ability to score against a weakened defensive unit to avoid the shutout, but the club will not be able to keep up and will lose on the road.
