A few contending squads had disappointing performances in Week 11 that caused serious damage in the standings. Fortunately, many of them have a chance to come back with strong showings in Week 12 to stay in position to make the playoffs.
These teams not only have the talent to come back from a loss but the mentality needed to earn a victory when it is needed the most.

Detroit Lions vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
A couple of weeks ago, a Detroit win would have been the obvious choice. The Buccaneers started the year 0-8, while the Lions were rolling on both sides of the ball.
However, back-to-back wins by the Bucs cause a little bit of doubt in this matchup. The fact that the Lions recently fell to the Pittsburgh Steelers 37-27 makes things even worse.
That being said, Tampa Bay still has yet to win a game on the road, and that is unlikely to change this week. While the team was able to get 163 rushing yards and three total touchdowns out of Bobby Rainey, it will not be quite as easy against the No. 5 run defense in the NFL.
This will put a lot more pressure on rookie quarterback Mike Glennon, who had excelled lately due to a reduced role in the offense. If he is forced to throw the ball 40-50 times in a game, he will struggle.
As a result, Matt Stafford and the Lions offense will be able to cruise to an easy home victory.
Kansas City Chiefs vs. San Diego Chargers
Few thought the Chiefs would finish the season undefeated, so the road loss to the Denver Broncos is not that concerning. This is still a really good football team that will remain a contender for the Super Bowl.
The same cannot be said about the San Diego Chargers, who have now lost three games in a row after starting 4-3.
Philip Rivers can still find his targets while Ryan Mathews continues his strong play, but mistakes continue to limit the offense. These will pile up more than usual against the dominant pass rush for the Chiefs.
Meanwhile, Jamaal Charles can get back to his usual strong play against a weak Chargers defense, which will keep the Chiefs on the field a long time in this game. Rivers will end up with few chances to score in this one.
The Kansas City crowd should be active for the first home game since Oct. 27, and this advantage will be enough to put the Chiefs over the top.
San Francisco 49ers at Washington Redskins
You can certainly excuse the two recent losses by saying they were against two of the best teams in the NFC (Carolina Panthers and New Orleans Saints) or by pointing out that they were by a combined four points.
However, the 49ers went to the Super Bowl last season and were among the favorites to win it all this year. To be in that discussion, you have to be able to beat good teams.
Fortunately, San Francisco gets a chance to turn things around offensively against one of the worst defenses in the NFL. The Redskins rank 28th in the league in yards allowed and 30th in points allowed per game.
The weak secondary should allow 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick to get back on track with some big plays, which should help once again spread out the offense. While Robert Griffin III has looked better in recent weeks, he will not be able to keep up on the scoreboard in this Monday night game.
