Mickie James' In-Ring Return to WWE Is Inevitable

Mickie James' last stint with WWE ended in an ugly divorce. WWE quickly severed ties with the popular Diva after she reportedly showed up late to the bus on multiple occasions during WWE's 2010 European tour, per PWInsider (via WrestlingInc.com). The release reportedly stemmed from an string of high-drama incidents. 

James' final days in the WWE revolved around an uncomfortable "Piggy James" storyline where Diva stable LayCool serially mocked James for her voluptuous figure.  

After a stellar stint in TNA, James has resurfaced in WWE-related storylines.

The former Divas champion is back in the good graces of the worldwide leader. James has spent the past week in WWE developmental territory NXT, training the next crop of future Divas:

James recently spoke with WWE.com, where she expressed interest in working with current WWE Divas:

"I would love to work with Natalya; we only had a couple matches when I was there. I would love to work with AJ Lee, and I think Brie [Bella] has really come a long way since I was in WWE, so I’d love to do some stuff with her."

Since James' departure, no Diva has been compared to Mickie more than AJ Lee, especially given her proficiency in pulling off the same "crazy chick" gimmick that put James on the map. 

WrestleMania season may as well be unofficially dubbed return season. Big names such as Goldberg, Steve Austin, Sting, The Rock and Shane McMahon have all been implied as possible return candidates according to F4Wonline.com and the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (via WrestleZone.com). But Mickie James may be more of a sure thing than any of them given her direct involvement with WWE as of late.

The Divas are usually given the short end of the stick come WrestleMania match-wise, with one-on-one opportunities all but a rarity. The Divas were even bumped off the WrestleMania XXIX card due to time constraints this past April.

But if WWE promoted a returning Mickie James against a top Diva, or Divas, this would present the division with the big-stage spotlight that always seems to elude it.
