Andre Johnson and Case Keenum's Updated 2013 Fantasy Outlook After Week 10

Matt FitzgeraldNov 10, 2013

Houston Texans quarterback Case Keenum didn't have as many explosive plays in Week 10 as in his first two NFL starts, but he still found superstar receiver Andre Johnson for two touchdown passes.

The combination is proving to be productive, and while Johnson is more of an established No. 1 receiver in fantasy football, it is wise to count on Keenum as a viable spot start for the remainder of the season.

Keenum has lost all three of his starts but has played reasonably well. Most importantly for fantasy owners, he is getting a lot of attempts and is looking Johnson's way the most by far.

Against the Arizona Cardinals, Johnson had a bit of a tougher time creating separation in being matched up with stud cornerback Patrick Peterson. However, he still caught five passes for 37 yards and two scores, as mentioned before.

Johnson should make highlight shows across America with the pass he hauled in over Peterson in the fourth quarter, which helped cut the Texans' deficit to 27-24—the score Houston eventually lost by.

Week 9's outstanding production when Johnson caught nine passes for 223 yards and three touchdowns suggests both the veteran wideout and the rising QB have potential to improve upon Sunday's performance, too.

After averaging over 10 yards per attempt in his first two outings, Keenum was under pressure all day and was not given many opportunities to throw the ball deep.

The first half was far better for Keenum than what transpired during the final 30 minutes in terms of completion percentage and overall efficiency:

Nevertheless, he finished with 43 passing attempts, 201 yards and three touchdowns through the air.

Given the number of throws he had and that he's now produced seven touchdowns in three games, Keenum is worth a flier as a spot start and even as a QB2 in two-quarterback leagues.
