David Moyes: Wayne Rooney and Van Persie Are Best in the Business

David Moyes has talked up the strike partnership between Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney, with the Manchester United manager insisting they are the equal of any duo in world football.

Moyes arrived at Old Trafford in the summer as the successor to Sir Alex Ferguson, knowing full well he was inheriting two of the game’s finest attacking talents.

Rooney has been in supreme form this term, with four goals and two assists to his name—per PremierLeague.com—while van Persie has scored five times in the league despite being a notch below his imperious best.

For all the quality the United attackers have displayed, the headline-grabbing efforts have come from the Red Devils’ bitter rivals Liverpool.

Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez have 14 league goals between them and are being talked about as the best duo in Europe.

Moyes does not feel that is the case and is convinced he has the top partnership at his disposal.

There were times last term when Rooney and van Persie did not operate as a partnership—with the latter played in a number of different roles by Ferguson.

Moyes sees them as a partnership, and van Persie is happy with the formation.

Speaking to Sky Sports earlier this week, van Persie said: "Wayne's a great player. In my opinion good players can always play together and I think we showed that against Stoke."
