If Koji Uehara was destined to have hamstring soreness, why couldn’t it have come against a meaningful opponent like the Yankees or Red Sox? It had to come against the Washington Nationals, in a series that exceeded expectations, but was lame nonetheless.

Now he’s likely to hit the disabled list for a while, to rest an injury that troubled him in spring training and will likely continue to be an issue unless it is fully healed. A couple starts? A month or two? Who knows. But the summer is upon us with the closest thing to a legitimate starter in the O’s rotation on the sidelines.
