Manchester United vs. Norwich City: Date, Time, Live Stream, TV Info and Preview

Rob GoldbergJun 8, 2018

Manchester United have had a disappointing start to the season overall, but they will look to come through a big win in the Capital One Cup against Norwich City.

The defending English Premier League champions have struggled to eighth place in the league table after nine matches.

However, United have actually done well in tournaments outside league play. They won the FA Community Shield, they are in first place in its Champions League group and have a big win over Liverpool in Round 3 of the League Cup.

They will try to keep this trend going against Norwich City, a club that is better than its record indicates. The squad has run into some tough competition to start the year, but it has generally fared well against weaker opponents.

Each side will be put to the test in an important League Cup match.

Top Storyline: Can Manchester United Get Some Momentum?

Although some figured United would be worse off with David Moyes at the helm instead of Sir Alex Ferguson, few expected things to be this bad. Every time the squad appears ready to turn things around, it suffers another setback.

However, the Red Devils have now gone unbeaten in five matches in a row across all competition, including a solid victory over Real Sociedad. The recent 3-2 victory over Stoke City represented one of the best offensive outputs all season.

Despite falling behind twice, the attack was able to move the ball well and get it to the key players up front to equalize and finally win.

There is loads of talent and depth on the roster, but the squad has been unable to turn this into positive results. The club will certainly hope the recent success will lead to more of it in the near future.

Prediction: Manchester United 2, Norwich City 0

Through nine matches, Norwich are currently tied with Crystal Palace with a league-low six goals. The attack has done well in the Capital One Cup so far, but it simply goes quiet against top competition.

Unfortunately for the young club, Manchester United will be tougher to score against than Watford and Bury.

Meanwhile, United have a lot of depth on the roster, and this match could be a chance for top players who might not get many starts to shine on the big stage. This possibly will include 18-year-old midfielder Adnan Januzaj, who continues to impress in his young career.

Regardless of whom is called upon to start, Moyes should be able to produce a formidable lineup that cruises past this struggling opponent.
