Twins Win 20-1
The Twins beat the bleap out of the ChiSox today 20-1. It reminded me of a day sometime in 1986, I think, when my friend Jack and I spent a summer day at his aunt’s place up in Benicia. We spent the afternoon in and out of the pool and listening to the Giants beat the day-lights out of the Padres by a score of about 18-1.
Thanks to Baseball Almanac, I was able to find the boxscore of that game played on June 23, 1986. Giants pitcher Mike LaCoss pitched a complete game and hit a 3-run HR that day. To this day, I remember how much I enjoyed wasting a warm summer day around the pool listening to my team beat the bejeezes out of one of their division rivals. I hope Twins fans got to watch or listen to today’s game in place that was warm and peaceful.
[The Giants lost the next game (6/24/86) 3-0 and collected only 4 hits. That's baseball.]
