Week 7 Fantasy Sleepers: Last-Minute Options Who Can Help Your Team Immediately

Even the best fantasy football owners find themselves in desperate situations on Sunday.

Sometimes there are simply too many byes to recover from, or maybe a few bad injuries have limited your squad. Either way, you need to find players to fill your lineup this week, most likely by using the waiver wire.

Fortunately, there are plenty of men available in most leagues who are worth a start in Week 7. Although they might not have the best upside over the course of the season, you can trust them this week.

Here is a look at top options at each position who are available in at least 80 percent of ESPN leagues.

Mike Glennon, QB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Owned in 1.7 percent of leagues)

The rookie quarterback will be making his third career start against the Atlanta Falcons after showing plenty of positive signs in his first couple games. Last week, Mike Glennon totaled 273 passing yards and two touchdowns against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Additionally, the coaching staff obviously has plenty of trust in him as shown by the 43 pass attempts in each start so far. If he can continue to get this type of opportunity, he can post some huge numbers for the rest of the year.

That will especially be true this week against a Falcons defense that has struggled this year. The unit was dominated by fellow rookie quarterback Geno Smith the last time it played, allowing three touchdowns through the air.

Glennon has a strong arm and talented receivers, which will lead to plenty of long plays during this game and, eventually, quality fantasy numbers.

Chris Ogbonnaya, RB, Cleveland Browns (2.3 percent)

Although Willis McGahee remains the go-to running back in Cleveland's offense, it is clear the coaching staff still wants to get Chris Ogbonnaya the ball. He excelled as a receiver in the past game, grabbing seven receptions for 61 yards and a touchdown.

Most importantly, he was targeted 12 times in the game, something that will probably continue as Brandon Weeden struggles to get the ball down the field.

Against the Green Bay Packers in Week 7, the Browns will likely have to throw the ball a lot in order to keep up on the scoreboard. This will likely shift the touches from McGahee towards Ogbonnaya as he is more involved in the passing game.

This could lead to a solid day from both a real and fantasy perspective.

Brandon LaFell, WR, Carolina Panthers (4.9 percent)

Although Brandon LaFell is not someone you want to trust on a weekly basis, he is perfectly acceptable to plug in your lineup with a good matchup.

The receiver has been a boom-or-bust fantasy player in his career, which has been on display in his last three games when he totaled 17 points, four points and 16 points. His production is heavily tied to that of quarterback Cam Newton, who is also incredibly inconsistent.

That being said, both players have a chance to do big things against the St. Louis Rams. The defense has allowed the seventh-most yards per pass attempt this year and has already allowed 19 passing plays of 20 yards or more.

This means LaFell has a great opportunity to beat the defense on deep plays, something he has done well in his short career. Counting on a big play might be risky, but he has a lot of upside in this matchup.

Jeff Cumberland, TE, New York Jets (3.9 percent) 

In the last three weeks, Jeff Cumberland has continued to become a bigger part of the Jets offense, and that will only continue with Kellen Winslow suspended for four games.

The tight end failed to get into the end zone in Week 6 after scoring two weeks in a row, but he had a season-high four receptions for 59 yards. With few consistent options on the offense, rookie quarterback Geno Smith should keep looking Cumberland's way when he needs a big play.

While the New England Patriots did hold Jimmy Graham without a catch last game, that was mostly due to the great play of Aqib Talib, who is doubtful for the upcoming matchup, according to Josh Katzowitz of CBS Sports.

If you need a bye-week filler at tight end, Cumberland is as good of a choice as any.

San Diego Chargers D/ST (10.2 percent)

Even though the Jacksonville Jaguars put together a respectable performance against the Denver Broncos, it does not change the fact that they have one of the worst offenses in the NFL.

The Jaguars have scored the fewest points per game, accumulated the fewest yards per game and have given up the fifth-most turnovers in the league. Any defense should have a solid fantasy performance against this weak unit.

Of course, the Chargers deserve credit on their own for improving throughout the year. They held the Indianapolis Colts to only nine points in their last game and have some quality pass-rushers who can rack up sacks.

San Diego should be able to force some turnovers and finish with double-digit fantasy points for your team.
