Cincinnati Bengals Notch First Road Win
If the Cincinnati Bengals want to take the next step, they will have to find a way to win on the road. In Week 6, the Bengals will have an excellent chance to earn their first away win of the year.
Cincinnati will be in Buffalo to take on the struggling Bills, who will start the inexperienced Thad Lewis in place of EJ Manuel under center.
It doesn't get much better than that for one of the NFL's top defensive units. While the Bengals have only forced nine turnovers in five games, they held the New England Patriots to just six points in Week 5. They rank fourth and fifth in fewest points allowed and fewest yards allowed per game, respectively.
Look for Mike Zimmer's talented defensive unit to crowd the box and eliminate the Bills' rushing threat. As a result, Lewis, who is making just his second career start, will be forced to beat the Bengals with his arm.
That's a strategy that can't fail for Cincinnati as long as the offense doesn't turn the ball over three or four times this weekend.
Houston Texans End Losing Skid
Few teams are in more desperate need of a win than the Houston Texans entering Week 6. Gary Kubiak's squad has dropped three straight and must find a way to get back to .500 before a showdown with undefeated Kansas City in Week 7.
A loss to the St. Louis Rams at home this weekend would put the Texans in danger of being 2-5 heading into their bye week.
But the skid has to stop somewhere, and look for it to end on Sunday. Despite their struggles, the Texans still boast a top-10 rushing attack and the NFL's best pass defense in terms of yards allowed.
Meanwhile, St. Louis ranks 30th in rushing yards per game (66.4) and is one of the few teams allowing more points than Houston. On top of all that, the Rams are 0-2 on the road this season, having been outscored 62-31 in two games outside of the Edward Jones Dome.
New Orleans Saints Stay Perfect
What a difference a year makes for the New Orleans Saints. With Sean Payton back on the sideline and a revamped defensive unit generating turnovers at a high rate, the Saints are a win away from taking a 6-0 record into their bye week.
Expect them to get it against the Patriots in New England on Sunday afternoon.
While both teams boast dominant defenses in 2013, Drew Brees and the Saints' second-ranked aerial attack will be the difference maker. With playmakers like Jimmy Graham and Darren Sproles at his disposal, Brees will have a significant advantage over Tom Brady.
After all, New Orleans is averaging 100 more passing yards and seven more points per game than New England's offense this season.
Anticipate a close game with the Saints edging out the Pats late for their sixth win in as many games.
