Reds Limp Home after Padres Complete Sweep
The Reds return to Cincinnati after going 3-3 on the six-game road trip. That would normally be acceptable. However, when you start the trip by sweeping the Arizona Diamondbacks, getting swept by the San Diego Padres is a little disheartening.
The Reds bullpen was hurting because of the 16-inning game on Saturday and Nick Masset possibly headed to the disabled list. They needed a strong start from Bronson Arroyo and he delivered. Arroyo pitched into the eighth inning, giving up six hits and three runs.
The Reds offense was unable to give Arroyo any support. Jake Peavy went the distance for the Padres yesterday, with his only blemish being a Chris Dickerson home run.

Yankees Call Up 6'7" Prospect 📈
The day off today will give the Reds and their medical team a chance to make some important decisions.
Joey Votto continues to experience dizziness. He will undergo tests to try and identify what the problem is.
Edinson Volquez will have his back looked at. He experienced spasms on Saturday before having to leave the game.
Nick Masset has a left oblique strain. He is expected to go on the disabled list.
Bill Bray is having his arm examined while with AAA Louisville. He has been on the disabled list since April 16.
The Reds cannot continue to play short-handed. The defending World Champions are coming to town. If Masset needs to go on the disabled list, do it now and call up someone from Louisville.
Speaking of call-ups, I would think that Homer Bailey could be a possibility. Micah Owings, who pitched 5 2/3 innings in relief on Saturday, is scheduled to start on Wednesday. Bailey last pitched for Louisville on May 13.
Regardless of what roster moves are made, the bottom line is the Reds need to start playing well at home. They are 7-9 at Great American Ball Park this year.
The Philadelphia Phillies come to Cincinnati on Tuesday. It will be Cole Hamels (1-2) against Johnny Cueto (4-1).
