New York Rangers Offseason Wishlist
It's not technically the offseason, but it is my offseason. The Rangers can start looking forward to the summer, free agency, the draft, and next season. Here are some things I want to see from Sather. Of course, knowing Glen Sather, he'll end up trading away Dubinsky, Girardi, Lundqvist, and two draft picks for a bag of skittles and a handshake.
I want to see one of the following players go: Gomez, Drury, Redden, or Rozsival. Naslund's retirement freed up a teensy bit of cap space. We can thank Nazzy for a decent season, subpar postseason, and a great Men's Journal photo shoot. Thanks to him calling it quits, we might be able to hang onto both Callahan and Dubinsky.

I also want Nikolai Zherdev gone. Nik Antropov stays. Where was Zherdev during the Washington series? Maybe he was in Boca. Tortorella might be able to firm him up though, so we'll see.
I want to see Sanguinetti, Sauer, Grachev, or Del Zotto play next season. We need to get younger and we need to care.
Keep Callahan, Staal, Dubinsky, Girardi, and Lundqvist. This would satisfy me, even though I would be sad to see Antropov, Betts, or Korpikoski leave.
Get someone awesome. By "someone awesome," Mr. Sather, I don't mean Wade Redden. I mean Ilya Kovalchuk or Mike Cammalleri. Still, anything is better than Redden, even a bag of Skittles.
Get someone big. By "big," I don't mean Aaron Voros; I mean Jay Bouwmeester. Get him.
Get Jagr back. I don't care if you have to clean Putin's boots with your tongue. I miss Jagr and I miss the Avery-Dubinsky-Jagr line.
And, yeah, Mr. Sather, I want you fired.
I'm not saying all of these things should happen at once, but it sure would be nice.
