Minnesota Timberwolves Mock Draft: James Harden or Eric Maynor?

Tanner ThomsMay 12, 2009

1. James Harden, Shooting Guard, Arizona State

Randy Foye will likely move back to the point guard position next year. Sebastian Telfair is far too inconsistent to start any longer. James Harden is a 6'5", phenomenal shooter that the Timberwolves need.

NBA Comparison: Manu Ginobli

2. Eric Maynor, Point Guard, VCU

Perhaps not one of the more well-known point guards, but certainly an excellent choice. Minnesota lacks depth at the guard positions. Kevin Ollie likely won't be back, and like I said earlier, Telfair is too inconsistent.

NBA Comparison: Sam Cassell

3. DaJuan Summers, Forward, Georgetown

The Timberwolves could use depth at power forward. Craig Smith is a decent player, but the Wolves could do better than him. Summers might be under-sized to play the four position, though.

NBA Comparison: Chuck Hayes

4. A.J. Price, Point Guard, Connecticut

The Wolves are basically now just selecting the best player that is available for them. Price would be a steal in the middle of the second round.

NBA Comparison: Mo Williams

5. Jeff Pendergraph, Forward/Center, Arizona State

Minnesota could use depth in the frontcourt. Pendergraph was a teammate of Harden's at Arizona State. He is 6'9", 230 pounds, and would be a great addition to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

NBA Comparison: Fabricio Oberto
