Game 34: Tampa Bay Rays Five, Baltimore Orioles Seven

At least the bullpen looked good.
Evan Longoria had another solid night at the dish going 2-4 with a double and an RBI. Longo seems to be locked in and focused during every at-bat.
Carlos Pena went 1-3 tonight, but his key moment was in the ninth, when he looked at strike three right down the middle of the plate.
Andy Sonnanstine pitched badly. Very badly. We will get to that later.
What Went Right:
Carl Crawford stayed hot tonight, going 2-5 with two doubles and two RBI. Now, only if Upton can get on before C.C., we can get even more production from the top of the order.
Tonight’s star’s of the game goes to the bullpen. Wheels, Balfour, Howell, and Nelson combined for six innings of two hit no run ball. If this is a sign for things to expect in the future, then the bullpen could become a key part to the Rays as they were last season.
Kapler made a nice defensive play, throwing out a runner and getting a hit. Gross did nothing, yet again.
What Went Wrong
Andy Sonnanstine had two innings pitched, nine hits, seven earned runs. I think that speaks for itself.
Whats Next
The Rays will try to salvage a game from this series tomorrow when they send Jeff Niemann to face off with Brad Bergesen. The Giraffe will need to fare a lot longer than Sonny did after what the bullpen did for the team tonight. Tomorrow’s game is a 7:05 P.M. EST start time.
