Fantasy Baseball Free Agent Pool: Speed Demons

Just because you’ve slipped behind in the Stolen Base category doesn’t mean you can’t catch up.  Here are some reasonably available SB threats.

Coco Crisp, Kansas City Royals- Coco swiped six bases in the past week.  He also went 5 for 16 (.313) with 3 Runs and an RBI.  He is struggling on the year hitting .241 with a solid 23 Runs.  He also has 8 SBs, 2 HRs, and 11 RBI. 

He is owned in 49 percent of Yahoo, 72.5 percent of ESPN, and 72 percent of CBS Sportsline leagues. 

Luis Castillo, New York Mets - Luis Castillo picked up four SBs last week to go along with a .261 average, 4 Runs, and 3 RBI. On the year he’s hitting .321 with 15 Runs and 9 RBI.  All of his SBs came this week.

He’s owned in 12 percent of Yahoo, 8.3 percent of ESPN, and 14 percent of CBS Sportsline leagues.

Ben Francisco, Cleveland Indians - Ben picked up 3 SBs last week.  He went 7 for 25 (.280) with 2 Runs and 1 RBI.  On the year he’s hitting .247 with 6 SBs, 16 Runs, 2 HRs, and 8 RBI. He’s owned in four percent of Yahoo, 1.5 percent of ESPN, and 11 percent of CBS Sportsline leagues.  He hasn’t seen a dip in  his playing time despite Matt LaPorta’s arrival.

Nyjer Morgan, Pittsburgh - Njyer swiped three bases last week while hitting .33 (6 for 18) with 3 Runs and 2 RBI. On the year he’s hitting .301 with 21 Runs, 13 RBI, and 9 SBs. He is owned in 66 percent of Yahoo, 56.2 percent of ESPN, and 51 percent of CBSporstline.

Willy Taveras, Cincinnati Reds - After his 5-for-5 performance Willy will be a popular guy for leagues in which he’s available.  He is currently owned in 65 percent of Yahoo, 79.3 percent of ESPN, and 41 percent of CBS Sportsline leagues.

Last week he stole three bases and went 13 for 27 (.481) with 8 Runs, a HR, and 5 RBI.  On the year he’s hitting .315 with 8 SBs, 24 Runs, 1 HR, and 7 RBI.
