WWE Rumors: Examining Latest Buzz Around Chyna, Stacy Keibler and More
Rumors have Chyna needing to write a WWE Hall of Fame speech and Stacy Keibler to pull out her ring gear again.
Buzz surrounds those two former female stars as well as a tag team reportedly feeling the effects of clashing with veterans backstage. Can fans expect to see Chyna and Keibler back with WWE or should they just ignore the whispers?
Scouring through backstage reports, here is a look at recent WWE rumors, picking out the truth from the bogus.
Chyna
1 of 4In surprising news, Chyna could possibly join her D-Generation X teammates at the 2014 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony.
PWInsider, via Lords of Pain, reports on her being inducted, "Word going around WWE is that she will be invited. Sources close to Chyna are also aware of a possible induction."
While being a pioneer as a female wrestler, and her association with D-Generation X could be enough to get her into the Hall of Fame, Chyna’s involvement in pornography will be a big obstacle.
WWE values mainstream publicity, but the porn films on Chyna's resume would seemingly bring too much negative attention.
The company could induct Shawn Michaels, The New Age Outlaws and Triple H and leave Chyna out of the mix. Her absence lessens the group's completeness, but comes with far less scrutiny.
Jim Ross didn't help clear up the speculation. He threw out Hall of Fame suggestions on his blog that included Danny Hodge and Steve Williams with no mention of Chyna or D-Generation X.
Stacy Keibler
2 of 4Rumors about Stacy Keibler making a return to WWE got quickly squashed.
Several outlets reported that the former manager and wrestler was in talks with WWE about making a comeback. Gordon Smart of The Sun wrote that Keibler was "considering lots of offers from WWE to capitalise on her name. She was one of WWE's most-loved divas and this is the perfect time to get her back."
PWInsider, via WrestleZone.com, reportedly asked WWE directly about this rumor and company officials "responded by claiming they are not speaking with her."
With as many options as Keibler has now that her fame has increased since leaving WWE, it seems unlikely that she'll ever make a long-term commitment to the company. Fans should expect at most an appearance at WrestleMania down the road.
Don't count on that being a bra and panties match either.
African-American Face Needed
3 of 4Could Titus O'Neil, Kofi Kingston or NXT's Xavier Woods be as big as John Cena?
WWE would apparently love for one of those guys to step up as a top guy. Wrestling Observer, via WrestleZone.com reports that "WWE is seeking a top African American babyface in order to attract that demographic."
The company's list of top African-American stars is minute. Other than The Rock, WWE's megastars have not been black and the company's reported acknowledgement of that fact is the first step to changing that.
With a demographic largely up for grabs, it's no surprise to hear that WWE is discussing how to build a star to appeal to it.
The Shield
4 of 4John Cena, Sheamus, Randy Orton or Chris Jericho couldn't stop The Shield's momentum—only Vince McMahon could.
AsF4WOnline.com, via WrestlingInc.com, reports that "there has been some backstage heat on The Shield in recent weeks." This is apparently due to Roman Reigns getting into a shouting match with Randy Orton and some minor altercation between Seth Rollins and Big Show.
Maybe being WWE's alpha males on TV got to their heads. Being young, talented and successful is certainly a recipe for arrogance.
Word is not clear on exactly what happened, but F4WOnline.com's report states that "word is that there was a power struggle of sorts in that Vince McMahon wanted people punished and Triple H didn't want them punished."
It sounds like McMahon approached the situation in the old-school, hard-nosed way while Triple H argued for the sake of booking logic and continuity. It's not as The Shield have been turned into jobbers so perhaps Triple H got his way to a degree.
Still, The Shield has certainly cooled off. They have moved from facing high-profile stars like Cena and Orton to facing The Usos and Christian.
Hopefully, these issues are resolved and WWE can let their young studs thrive once again.
