WWE Raw: Rumors, News, Predictions and Spoiler-Free Preview for July 29

Donald WoodJul 29, 2013

The WWE must kick its booking into high gear with only three episodes of Raw remaining before SummerSlam.

Huge matches are already advertised for Rawโ€”Daniel Bryan takes on long-time tag team partner Kane,ย and champion John Cena faces off against Ryback in a tables matchโ€”and the unpredictability of the WWE recently can only mean even more action.

The company understands how close it is to the second-biggest pay-per-view of the year, and the WWE Universe should expect a wild night of Raw that sets the stage for the final build to Augustโ€™s extravaganza.

Where: Laredo Energy Arena, Laredo, Texas

When: Monday, July 29 at 8 p.m. ET (pre-taped)

Watch: USA Network

Kane and Daniel Bryan Go 1-On-1

Daniel Bryan is the hottest commodity in the WWE right now. Not only are the fans 100 percent behind his character, but the fact that Vince McMahon and the familyโ€™s storyline is also now centered around Bryan indicates that the company has supreme confidence in him.

Now Bryanโ€™s storyline with Kane (former tag team champions) comes to a head on Raw.

Question on Everyoneโ€™s Mind: Will Bray Wyatt Play a Role in this Match?

Both Bryan and Kane are faces, and letting them beat each other down when they hold no true animosity in the storyline doesnโ€™t make much sense for long-term booking. With neither man likely to turn heel this close to SummerSlam, there is a strong indication that Bray Wyatt and his family will make their presence felt against Kane.

Hype Meter: 5 out of 5 Unpredictable Endings

The Wyatt Family has been booked extremely strong, and allowing Bryan to protect Kane from the entire stable would make them look weak. Instead of allowing the match to happen at all, I predict that the family will abduct Kane and take him back to the secluded location WWE.com first discovered.

This would mark the beginning of Kaneโ€™s heel turn and eventual alignment with the Wyatt Family. Bryan, now left in the ring alone, would undoubtedly be put in a match by Mr. McMahon via Brad Maddox, possibly against the Big Show.

Great Matches All Night

According to WWE.com, Raw has several top-notch bouts scheduled for Monday, including John Cena vs. Ryback in a tables match, Rob Van Dam vs. Fandango, divas champion AJ Lee vs. Kaitlyn and world champion Alberto Del Rio vs. Christian.

Thatโ€™s a stellar night of wrestling for all fans of the sport.

Question on Everyoneโ€™s Mind: How Much Will Monday Build to SummerSlam?

As great as these matches look on paper, the SummerSlam PPV is just three weeks away and the build for the event has to pick up some serious steam and fast. Besides the match between John Cena and Bryan and the battle of CM Punk vs. Brock Lesnar, no other bouts have been announced for the PPV.

A plethora of great matches on Raw doesnโ€™t matter unless the purpose of booking them on Raw is to build a feud leading into the companyโ€™s second-largest event of the year.

Hype Meter: 4 out of 5 Star Frog Splashes

The WWE has been booking its shows well over the last several months, and Monday will be no different. I predict that the WWE will give a non-finish to almost every match advertised tonight and continue these feuds leading into SummerSlam.

RVD vs. Fandango would be a great PPV match, and the same goes for the World Heavyweight Championship bout between Del Rio and Christian. Instead of giving the ending away tonight for free, the usage of interference or a non-finish in each match would make it clear that the battle isnโ€™t over and will continue into next month.
