Phillies Waiting For The Right Time

David MarshMay 10, 2009

The Philly offense is a sleeping monster that wont wake up. Of The nine man lineup 7 of the 9 are home run hitters that can crush pitches. Rollins for the past two years was notorious for getting on base and stealing. But with a .203 AVG you can only picture his success is UNDER potential. Victroino would have received a bash a week ago but the hitting streak and the improved AVG to .281 saved and his defense has been solid. I will include Utley and Ibanez in the same sentence because they are the life support that's been keeping this team alive, a two run game today for the Phillis and the to runs came from a solo shot from Utley and Ibanez. Both of them have shown amazing defense but Utley still has problems diving. Howard is Howard and he will come around like he always does but is home runs in the 7th inning of a 16-2 win will not be needed, what I mean is when its the 7th inning and theres two on and your down by 2 bend those and don't go for every slider that's looks good. By the way Howards defense went from a D+ to a A+. Werth lately has been on and off but he has a few nice shots that helped the Phills and hes been taking a beating in the outfield running into walls but hes always been tough.COSTE is almost as disappointing as Dobbs. Matter of fact I will to Dobbs and Coste in the same sentence. Coste was a very good backup for Ruiz but this year he was forced to start after Ruiz went down, and hes has only stood up to the occasion hasn't stepped up, with a .204 AVG he isn't doing so well but Ruiz will be moving in and out so Coste can return to normal. To describe Dobbs last year if you follow basketball they give out a 6-man award (award for coming off the bench) Dobbs is this man, or was. he currently has a .154 AVG which makes the bench go down but thanks to Matt (I'll See You In Right Field) Stairs the bench can stay even not bad but not good. Feliz is my man hard player loves to play and always makes contact he has a .305 AVG and I will leave him alone.

The "Shutout Starting Pitching" is all but gone. the new order should be 1.Myers 2.Blanton/Moyer 3.Blanton/ Moyer 4.Hammels 5.Chan Ho Park is a Dodger that was great but sadly the word WAS comes up. Hammels needs to take dancing lessons but he is improving and settling down but he is to shaky to put at number 1. Moyer/Blanton are two effective pitchers they will get in there for 6-7 innings give up 1-3 runs and set your relievers for a routine but that's if they play the way they should. Myers has been living in Hammels Shadow and its starting to get to him. is first 3 innings are tough but when he gets past 4 he puts on the chains and locks them and does very well. After the slow start from the relievers Eyre, Madson, and Durban are stepping it up. The Worst Story is Brad (I Need Help) Lidge. One Blown Save which is already bad then about 20-30 games into the season has given up more home runs then he did all 08 season.
