Mets Walk-Off Yankees 😯

Nationals Ballpark: Washington DC

Collin CooperMay 7, 2009
Surrounding area: Needs a lot of work, lots of construction going on on Half Street, which will be really nice when completed. But now there's nothing, really: no bars, no hotels, nothing to do.

Transportation in: Metro stop is just two blocks away—very short walk. Green line Metro

Cleanliness: Extremely well kept, janitorial workers were making rounds continuously— great attention paid to appearance

Lighting/Color: Lots of bright reds and blues, use of the logo was prevalent. Scoreboard was nice, no JumboTron, though

Concessions: Here there is an excellent variety: Ben's Chili Bowl plus typical stadium foods. Seat service had nice menu, as well. Diamond club was fantastic! Stayed open an hour past final out serving beer. Outfield restaurant, Presidents club, lots of F/B options.

Shopping: There are BOAT LOADS of apparel and team stores, probably counted 10 on the mezzanine level alone.

Seats: From the look of it, there doesn't appear to be a bad seat in the house. Upper decks and outfield seats look to have excellent views.

Ambiance: Definitely more visiting fans than Nats fans. St. Louis was in town, and the stadium was full of Cardinals fans. Fireworks display after the game: Not bad, although they do it from behind the first base line, so the sight line was pretty obscured by the upper decks.
