Posada Headed To DL….
A busy day so far for injuries here at The Ghost of Moonlight Graham. First it was Carlos Zambrano and now it is Yankee’s catcher, Jorge Posada heading to the DL. WFAN’s Sweeny Murti is reporting that Posada will be placed on the DL with a strained hamstring which he suffered last night.
This is a huge blow to fantasy owners who have Posada as their starting catcher. A good hitting catcher is hard to find and finding an adequate replacement for a good hitting catcher is even harder to find. Like last year when Posada landed on the DL, the Yankees will go with Jose Molina as their primary catcher. Molina as ZERO fantasy value.
For those of you who have Posada on their team and are scrambling to find a replacement, here are a couple of options:
Rod Barajas, Blue Jays - Currently hitting .333 with 2 HR’s and 15 RBI
Jesus Flores, Nationals - Hitting .288 with 2 HR’s and 11 RBI
John Baker, Marlins - Hitting .299 with 2 HR’s and 10 RBI. Also has a .390 OBP which would help you in leagues that value that stat.
John Buck, Royals - When this guy is in the lineup, all he does is hit. Hitting .260 with 3 HR’s and 16 RBI in just 50 AB’s.
