Cincinnati Reds Get Thrashed

StephenMay 6, 2009
The Reds lost to the Brewers 15-3.
Actually, the Reds lost the game before many fans were able to find their seats. Not too many good things to say about tonight, but I’ll start with the positives.
David Weathers ties Cy Young at 19 on the all time appearance list with 906. Not sure what that really means, but oh well. Pretty sure you can’t really compare the two.

Brandon Phillips crushed a homer. Jay Bruce crushed a homer. I’m glad they’re hitting.

Joey Votto got a much needed rest.

Laynce Nix continues to prove that Dusty Baker is an idiot.

I’ve got no more good things to say about tonight.

The Bad News

Bronson Arroyo absolutely sucked tonight. One inning pitched, seven hits, nine runs (all of them earned), four walks, and two home runs. I’m glad he doesn’t pitch for another five days because I don’t want to even look at him for a while.

Paul Janish pitched better than Bronson. Yeah, that’s right. Paul Janish.

In case you don’t know who Paul Janish is, he is the Reds back up shortstop. Tonight was the first time a position player has pitched for the Reds since Lenny Harris did it against the Giants 11 years ago.

Janish made more history tonight. He is the only pitcher to ever give up five runs in an inning and exit to a standing ovation.

That’s all I’ve got tonight. I’m going to go try to forget this one.
