WWE's Greatest Hits of the Week on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and More
The week following WWE Payback featured a strange mélange of items on Twitter, Facebook and other social media.
It was a week that saw a retirement that was not to be, a Diva brushing off embarrassment and new champions crowned. Mick Foley, Antonio Cesaro and Zeb Colter all got airtime on The Daily Show, and WWE shared photos of Divas past and present soaking up the summer.
One of the most interesting "Where Are They Now?" features took a look at man once called "Meat."
In sad news, a rabid WWE fan lost her life and Twitter became the home of many instances of emotional outpouring. WWE stars shared memories and images of a life taken too soon.
From that tragic story to more lighthearted items, here are the most interesting stories and moments from the week on WWE-related social media.
June 16: New Champions
1 of 7WWE’s inaugural Payback pay-per-view featured three title changes, including AJ Lee completing her master plan and Curtis Axel mirroring his father's career.
WWE's Instagram page showcased both Axel and AJ in intriguing photos.
AJ looks genuinely in awe over her accomplishment in her pic and looks nothing like the manipulative puppet master she was on her way to the gold. One fan's comment on that image summed up how many fans feel about the new Divas champ even in spite of her evil ways: "I like AJ because she is cute."
WWE also featured a shot of Axel as the Intercontinental champ with Paul Heyman at his side, as well as an article comparing his career so far with that of Curt Hennig's.
June 18: World's Strongest Swerve
2 of 7Mark Henry proved that we are indeed puppets.
On Monday's WWE Raw, Henry seemed to be saying his goodbyes to WWE. Dressed in a suit, he reflected on his accomplishments and shared his longing to be with his family. It was all a ruse.
He then crushed John Cena on the mat and told him, "I still got a lot left in the tank."
Xavier Woods, among others, had some fun things to say on Twitter about the segment.
"Gonna be a good day #MarkHenry #HadYallFooled pic.twitter.com/GxPEPxAtwc
— Xavier Woods (@XavierWoodsPhD) June 18, 2013"
"The Oscar for best acting in a comedy or musical goes to Mark Henry! Man, I was fooled! #raw

June 18: Mick Foley and John Oliver vs. Antonio Cesaro and Zeb Colter
3 of 7WWE was featured on The Daily Show on Tuesday and the buzz over these worlds merging momentarily continued on Twitter the next day.
John Oliver, who has taken over hosting duties in Jon Stewart's absence, showed a clip from Monday's WWE Raw featuring Antonio Cesaro joining forces with Zeb Colter and announcers Michael Cole and John Layfield squabbling over it.
Oliver praised WWE for making more valid points during this segment on the immigration debate than anything that’s been said by government officials. He called it "a good discussion about the ambivalence and hypocrisy at the heart of our policies."
Mick Foley joined the British comedian in a WWE-style promo complete with Oliver's torn sleeves, a replica championship belt and fire churning behind them on a green screen.
""Hey Zeb, if you've got a problem with immigrants, now you've got a problem with me." - @realmickfoley http://t.co/hAn3gqJDny #WWE

June 19: R.I.P. Hayleigh
4 of 7As the London Evening Standard reported, longtime WWE fan Hayleigh Kaur and her mother recently died in a fire. WWE Superstars and Divas made several touching tributes to her.
Wade Barrett tweeted a picture of her along with some kind words.
"Very sorry to hear of the passing of a huge WWE fan today. #RIPHayleigh pic.twitter.com/1OKp0xOTHu
— Wade Barrett (@WadeBarrett) June 19, 2013"
Sheamus offered his condolences via Twitter as well.
"#riphayleigh You will be sorely missed!
— Sheamus (@WWESheamus) June 19, 2013"
Natalya shared a photo of her and Hayleigh in remembrance.
"Came across another nice photo of myself and @TrueLoveAlwaysx (HayLeigh). She's been on my mind. #riphayleigh pic.twitter.com/MKRmY7OOpL
— Natalya (@NatbyNature) June 20, 2013"
It's always moving to see how strong the WWE community proves to be when one of its own falls. Twitter, so often a home for nonsense and triviality, became a place for outpouring and support.
June 19: Where Meat Is Now
5 of 7A former WWE Hardcore champ has gone from crushing men's spines to realigning them.
WWE's Facebook page linked to an interesting article about Shawn Stasiak and what he's up to now that his in-ring career is over. Stasiak, now 42, is a chiropractor in Dallas.
The piece talks about how difficult it was to live to his father's legacy. Stan Stasiak won the WWE title in 1973. His son, known as "Meat" never matched that feat.
WWE posted a photo gallery of his life as a WWE performer and a series of video clips featuring his career highlights.
June 20: Kaitlyn Wants to Move on
6 of 7WWE fans with quick eyes caught a glimpse of more of Kaitlyn than she intended on Monday's WWE Raw. Her breasts slipped out of her ring gear for a brief moment in a wardrobe malfunction in the vein of Janet Jackson.
Rather than get angry at the folks sharing the photos of her exposed breast and snickering at the incident, Kaityln appears to be taking it all in stride. She made a joke about it on Twitter on Thursday.
"Guys, Enough about the wardrobe malfunction on monday. Lets #Nip this in the bud.
— Kaitlyn (@KaitlynWWE) June 20, 2013"
Here's to moving on and watching Kaitlyn spear AJ Lee in half the next time they collide.

June 20: Summer Divas
7 of 7Thank WWE’s Facebook page for linking to a wonderful way to end the week.
The company posted a massive photo gallery of Divas in swimsuits of varying sizes. It's supposed to be a way to usher in the summer, but most male fans don't need a valid reason to flip through page after page of images of Divas.
Current roster members like The Bellas and Kaitlyn are featured as are women of WWE's past such as Mickie James, Stacy Keibler, Victoria and Melina.
