One Small Favor to Ask of NBC

Here at JoeSportsFan, we understand the magnitude of speaking out on behalf of an entire nation of sports fans.  There are millions and millions of sports-loving people around the country who have various preferences and only in the most rare of circumstances can the assumption be made that we all think in unison on any given topic.

That said, we are are confident that we speak for everyone when we say to NBC—please, for the love of all that is holy, do us a favor and keep Al Roker away from our sporting events from here on out.

Earlier this year, we documented NBC’s favorite obnoxious, overweight goon trying (and failing miserably) to be funny during the Super Bowl pre-game show.   And now he’s invaded the Kentucky Derby…

1976 - The Illinois Legislature declares today as Rick Monday Day because of his patriotic gesture of saving the American flag from being burned in Los Angeles by two fans. What a teriffic American. Happy freaking Rick Monday Day everyone!

1990 - Orioles closer Gregg Olson sets a Major League record with 41 consecutive scoreless relief innings. Though the 41 innings streak did not occur all in the same night, Eddie Murray did down 41 straight shots of Maker’s in honor of the occasion.

1991 - Mackey Sasser and Mark Carreon become the eighth tandem in history to hit back to back pinch hit home runs. We can scratch off “Mackey Sasser” reference from our May checklist.
