Joe's 411: B/R's Wrestling News!

Joe Burgett May 3, 2009

For a long time, people have been upset with the fact I have written so many articles on one or two pieces of news in the world of wrestling, so now I am downsizing. One article with all the news you could possibly want to know about.

It will happen every other day, everyday, or weekly. Nothing has been decided just yet, but for now this is the one article news wise you will see from me. Unless it is a breaking story, in which I have to inform the B/R readers right away about.

Vince McMahon commented at the annual shareholders meeting Friday on if the company is working on a new reality show.

"There's always talk of a reality series," McMahon responded. "Again, it's very expensive to do. It's just very expensive to do that in a way we want to do it. We want to make sure it's not down and dirty and cheesy or whatever. The budget for what we want to do is pretty high. There's interest in more of the application of the Divas brand than back to Tough Enough."

Personally I liked Tough Enough, it was a very successful series a couple of years ago. And being on MTV, it got new fans in. So there is nothing wrong with getting it back if you want to start another reality show.

The fact is the expense, and with another show added in WWE Superstars, it is unlikely the WWE has the money to start it up right now. I am sure they could do one, but as McMahon said, it is not the fact they can't just that they don't have the money to do it the way they want to do it.

Which you would have to understand when thinking about having a new reality series. Also with four days being taken now and five during PPVs, you also have to wonder what night and time the show could be done too.

I am sure they don't want to have a new show compete with TNA or ROH right now. But of course when the show gets popular, there is nothing wrong with having it compete a bit. But we will have to see what happens int he future. As of now there is not a new reality series out for the WWE.

Vince McMahon also mentioned at yesterday's annual shareholders meeting that he is unhappy with ECW ratings, but happy with its format.

"Currently, I am happy with ECW in terms of it's format," McMahon said. "I'm unhappy with the television ratings, but more times than not it's the No. 1 show on Sci-Fi... ECW is used in a different way than it was in the past. ECW at one time was a wild west, shoot 'em up, bang-bang. You can't continue that way, so the ECW brand had to morph anyhow.

"You'll see some of our younger talent on ECW and once they garner a certain amount of experience and we understand that the public likes them in some way we can move them to Raw or Smackdown.

"I won't say that it's a farm system, it's really not. We have a great farm system down in Florida - Florida Championship Wrestling. It's where a lot of our new performers enter the major leagues, so to speak, is ECW, and it's working out well for everybody."

When you think about it ECW is a successful show, it makes money for both the WWE and SciFi. So obviously it will be around for a while. I like the fact we are seeing new talent come in through the show too.

Before ECW was the extreme show we all remembered, but then the WWE go away from that. It started to get boring, and then ratings began to suffer. Then they started bringing in new superstars.

Once that started people began watching again. It was becoming the WWE version of ECW, but it was not half bad. Sure we want to see extreme matches again, but right now they are doing well.

Guys like Kofi Kingston, Evan Bourne, Jack Swagger, and others have come to ECW and made a big impact on the company.

Word is that four FCW Superstars will be called up soon to the roster. Word has it that SOS, Sheamus O'Shaunessy will be called up in about two weeks. He is a former FCW World Champion and will be a key member of the ECW roster.

If you have not seen him wrestle look up a few of his matches on YouTube. My favorites are the matches he has had with Joe Hennig.

Word also has it that another FCW World Champion in Eric Escobar will be called up soon. It may not be right away, but possibly a month or two.

They have to finish his role with the FCW World Title before letting him go. Which is why he is not be called up so fast.

Angela a Diva in FCW, could be coming up soon, too. Word has it that should would be joining Cryme Tyme as their manager. But that has most likely be thrown off the table as there has not been anymore talk about it.

So I would think she would make her way as a manager, but with another FCW Superstar. She would wrestle with him for a while, like Alicia Fox did with DJ Gabriel.

Kaval/Low Ki has been thrown out there too. He has been wrestling in Japan for a while and just signed with the WWE. He wrestled in TNA for a while of course under the Low Ki name.

The WWE does not let wrestlers use their same name anymore of they were apart of another company before joining them. Unless of course they are sons of legends like Ted Dibiase, Jr. and Cody Rhodes. Which makes sense of course.

I don't see Kaval moving up right now personally, as he has just been in FCW for a few months. However all of FCW management has been impressed and sent word to Vince about him.

Time will tell if he will be coming up, but for now it is a waiting game.

On the TNA front

Roxxi will be leaving TNA as of now. She and Rhaka Khan were suspended after a backstage altercation and both are suspended of course, but now both are getting let go from the company.

The only reason Roxxi has been off TV was because of the suspension, but Khan was rumored to be let go months ago as she has not impressed anyone in TNA management.

She was dating Kurt Angle for a little while, I know I was shocked too. But they have since broken up, and she has no one to speak on her behalf.

Roxxi has been a key member of the TNA Knockout Division, and I have no idea why they would want to let her go. But we will have to see if they sign her back when her suspension lets out or let her go.

Obviously if they know she is going to be leaving, they will not put her back on TV. So I am sure if we see her back on an iMPACT taping then she has been resigned, if not then we will obviously know she is gone.

I feel the WWE needs to jump on this and sign her quick as she is a good wrestler and could help out the diva division.

Word has it that Big Hernandez of LAX will be out for a while, six to nine months even. He has a legit neck injury of which he underwent surgery for. If you saw iMPACT this past week it showed the British Invasion taking out Hernandez.

This will obviously be a storyline TNA goes with since he will be out. So since he will be gone, we may see Homicide cash in his briefcase for the X-Division gold soon to get him on his singles run.

It is the perfect time if you ask me and there is no reason not to. I say wait until Suicide loses it and cash it in on the heel who takes it from him. Because most likely a heel will be taking it.

Homicide is a face, and TNA fans would want to be behind him while he is on his singles run without his LAX partner for a while.

Also for all of you that care, Mick Foley is writing another book. This time an autobiography, woo another. Word has it that he started it six weeks ago and will be released sometime in late 2010.

He is a former New York Times Best Seller, so we all know he can write. Personally I have been a fan of Foley's and an autobiography from him would be great to see again, kind of a way to catch us up if you will.

That is all the news this week, as I have covered mostly everything else prior to this article.

This is the latest news out as of right now, but as more comes out, I will be writing about it here on B/R. So whenever you see the headline Joe's 411:B/R Wrestling News , know you are going to be getting the latest stuff.

You don't have to go to 400 different sites, now it is in one place.
