Yankees-Angels: Burnett Grinds It Out, Mariano Slams the Door, Yanks Win 7-4

A.J. Burnett wasn’t at his best tonight, but I would say he put up a solid start. He grinded through the game, and his pitching line was: 7IP 8H 4R 4ER 1BB 5K. Phil Coke pitched a scoreless eighth inning, and wound up picking up the win.

His record improves to 1-1. Mariano Rivera struck out two batters in the ninth, and picke dup his fifth save of the season.

The Yankees offense knocked in seven runs, on 12 hits, and they also drew five walks.  Johnny Damon went 1-4, picking up a run, w alk, and an RBI. (Solo HR off of Ortega) Derek Jeter went 2-for-4, picked up a walk and an RBI.

The Yanks won 7-4, and move on to a record of 12-10 on the season. The team extends the wining streak to three games. Tomorrow’s pitching matchup will be LHP Andy Pettitte vs. RHP Jered Weaver.
