Yankees-Angels: A.J. Burnett Looks to Make It Three in a Row

A.J. Burnett is coming off his worst outing of the season, and he is looking to bounce back in front of the home crowd.

The Yankees will get a crack at young Angels starter Anthony Ortega, who will be making only the second start of his major league career. Let’s watch and see if the balls fly out of the park tonight.

• Burnett last faced the Angels on July 4, 2008, for Toronto, allowing eight runs (six earned) on 12 hits over seven innings in an 8-2 Blue Jays loss.
• Alex Rodriguez (right hip surgery) will serve as a designated hitter in an intrasquad extended spring game at 11 a.m. ET on Thursday in Tampa, Fla.
• Swisher’s two-homer game on Wednesday marked his 12th career multi-homer game, the first since June 30, 2008, vs. Cleveland. Swisher has twice collected four RBI or more in a game this year, recording five RBI on April 9 in Baltimore.
• Hideki Matsui is hitting .412 (14-for-34) in his last nine games and walked a career-high three times on Wednesday.
• Girardi has 100 wins as the Yankees’ manager.
