WWE: The Shield Must Have Long Title Reigns to Maintain Credibility

Giulio RomanoMay 28, 2013

Justice has finally been served.

The Shield has taken the WWE by storm and just recently managed to capture both the United States and Tag Team titles, leaving the universe wondering what is next on the agenda.

For the first time in ages it seems, the company created a unit so in sync and so powerful not even the mighty Undertaker can stop.

You have on one side Seth Rollins, the ninja, the quick and risk-taking agent whose entire body serves as a weapon.

Then, Roman Reigns the enforcer. He is a total beast. Turn away for but a second and BAM! it is as if a train just ran through.

Together they will pick up where Team Hell No! left off and continue to restore some much-needed glory to the tag team championship.

Finally, there is Dean Ambrose, the current US champion. Though he is not officially labeled as the leader of the pack, he is the most vocal and the most maniacal.

Seriously, his looks and tone of voice scream devil. He may look small, but often enough, it is in the smallest jars you find the best ointments.

Their arrival has taken the WWE by storm, and now, there is no telling where all this can go.

All this of course provided that this company and the (often enough) cowardly writing team doesn't pull the plug too quickly in panic. Who remembers The Nexus?

These young upstarts and their newly won championship must be made to stand tall and reign supreme for months. No pinfalls, no running away and no losing to the all-powerful Cenas and Triple Hs of this world.

It is a recipe that works, stick to it!

Credibility is so easily lost if not kept in check. The momentum The Shield has gathered over the last few months could vanish in a second should creative make but one mistake.

Having great feuds with top stars like Sheamus, Randy Orton and even John Cena would do wonders for these well-loved characters.

Yes, though they are perceived as villains, people absolutely love The Shield. Their positioning as the opening act for WrestleMania XXIX was a stroke of genius.

Their victory, a taste of paradise.

Now, holding a championship doesn't mean what it used to in WWE. Here is a wonderful chance to start changing things for the better. The US and Tag titles need it after all.

Antonio Cesaro showed promise when he was a champion, but it ended up not going anywhere despite being a great talent. He held that belt for close to nine months, Dean Ambrose should be allowed to do the same but better.

Rollins and Reigns should be champions for a whole year, just like CM Punk. Why not? It clearly made history and wonders for the WWE championship.

Creative and the McMahons should take time developing this program as if it was their No. 1 priority.

They really are the future and are still unspoiled by the evil hand of bad writing.

It has only just begun so here's hoping fans are left wanting more from this group by allowing all three members to remain mysterious, deadly as hell and, of course, champions.

Believe in The Shield, the bringers of justice, or crash against them and be destroyed.
