Wade Barrett Captures Intercontinental Title vs. Miz on Monday Night Raw

After a terrific Monday Night Raw match with lots of action, Wade Barrett was able to regain the Intercontinental title from The Miz.

Bleacher Report's Brian Mazique gives us a look at the new champion:

Well, so much for that whole WrestleMania 29 thing.

For the uninitiated, The Miz knocked off Barrett during the legendary event's pre-show to capture the Intercontinental belt on Sunday night.

Hopefully you acted quickly on celebrating Miz's title run, because after barely 24 hours it's already over, and the original titleholder is once again the owner.

If you're thinking, "doesn't this make the match at WrestleMania—you know, the biggest event of the year—pointless?" then you're not alone. And you have a point.

The match itself on Monday night was an entertaining back-and-forth battle, with the crowd in favor of the heel (via SEScoops.com):

Despite the crowd at the IZOD Center, this result is going to be highly controversial.

After losing his belt at WrestleMania, it was believed that Barrett was now free to move on to bigger and better things. Instead of being stuck on the lower card or losing non-title matches, he could potentially feud with a main event star and make a run at a world title.

Moreover, The Miz is popular around the wrestling world, and putting a belt on him is never really a bad idea.

But all of it was for naught. Barrett is once again the Intercontinental champion, and the direction of both wrestlers is completely up in air.

The Monday Night Raw after WrestleMania is typically known for shocking moments, but I don't think anyone was anticipating this. It will be compelling to see what happens from here.
