5 Stars Who Could Make a Surprise Appearance at WrestleMania
The supercard may be what fans look forward to, but WWE usually has a few unadvertised surprises for us at WrestleMania.
Some segments are painful to watch—like Brodus calling his mama last year. Others, thankfully, are much better.
There are several important WWE superstars who’ve been left off the card this year, but that doesn’t mean they won’t be on the show.
Some stars may unexpectedly put their title on the line, and some may make a long awaited return from injury.
Then there are the familiar old faces that’ll just show up because it’s WrestleMania.
Here are five stars that could make a surprise appearance at tonight’s megashow.
Antonio Cesaro
1 of 5The absence of Antonio Cesaro from WrestleMania XXIX’s card is staggering to many.
Not only he is (hopefully) one of WWE’s great stars of the future, but he’s also the United States Champion.
We shouldn’t be surprised; the WWE has a history of leaving midcard titles out of recent WrestleMania shows.
Still, it’s hard not to be disappointed by the omission of a strong rivalry for Cesaro heading into The Show of Shows.
If WWE decides to add a quick match to the show or pre-show, a US championship match should be its first choice.
Rob Van Dam
2 of 5Rob Van Dam’s contract with TNA expired recently, and he was in attendance at the WWE Hall of Fame.
WWE.com cameras caught up with RVD after the ceremony, inquiring about a possible return.
RVD reached a career apex when he became WWE champion in 2006, but he was never again able to reach those heights.
Perhaps Mr. Monday Night will begin a quest to climb the WWE mountain one more time?
What his Hall of Fame appearance means is unknown.
It could mean he signed with WWE, or it could simply be a tease for his fans.
Regardless, don’t be shocked to see The Whole F’n Show make a cameo at The Showcase of Immortals.
Christian
3 of 5Captain Charisma has been off television for an alarming amount of time.
He took time off to recover from injury and was medically cleared to return back in January though WWE decided to not involve Christian in its WrestleMania XXIX plans (via wrestlezone.com)
However, recent reports have suggested that The Instant Classic will be returning imminently (via wrestlinginc.com).
This is similar to RVD’s situation and could mean different things. Maybe we’ll see him on Raw or SmackDown next week.
However, there’s a good chance that the peeps will get to see their man tonight at WrestleMania.
WWE could kill two birds with one stone here, as Christian would be the perfect opponent for Antonio Cesaro.
It was Captain Charisma who was the first man to pin Cesaro, after all.
Stone Cold Steve Austin
4 of 5Sure Stone Cold stated that he won’t be at WrestleMania, but it wouldn’t be any fun if he announced an appearance.
Austin won’t be a huge part of the event, but he could elevate the show just by being there.
He was at WrestleMania XXVII as a special guest referee, but on that night he managed to give us a great moment with a simple staredown.
Whether it’s another interaction with The Rock, a meeting with John Cena, or a teasing confrontation with CM Punk, a small Steve Austin appearance would be delightful.
John Laurinaitis
5 of 5John Laurinaitis returned to WWE television two SmackDown’s ago, but hasn’t appeared since.
He had a brief altercation with The Rock that led to People Power meeting the People’s Elbow.
His appearance may have been a one-off, or it could’ve been building to a big angle at WrestleMania XXIX.
Could Mr. Excitement cost The Rock his WWE title? Could we see an allegiance between him and John Cena?
Crazier things have happened on The Grandest Stage of Them All.
