WWE WrestleMania 29 Predictions: Superstars and Divas Who Will Shine

Brian MaziqueJun 4, 2018

CM Punk is one of the best all-around talents in the WWE, but I’m not expecting much from him in the way of daring wrestling maneuvers in light of his current physical ailments, per Jeffrey Harris of 411mania.com, and the Undertaker’s age.

In fact, it would surprise me if any of the featured matches at WrestleMania 29 give us a ton of in-ring wow moments.

Much of this WrestleMania’s appeal is about big names and potentially huge storyline changes. That’s fine by me, as I understand this business is about more than just in-ring gymnastics.

If ridiculous athleticism sold all the tickets, Kofi Kingston, Justin Gabriel, Tyson Kidd and Sin Cara would be battling in a Fatal Four Way for the WWE championship on Sunday.

With that said, there are still three WWE performers who I believe will be dazzling on Sunday night.

Fandango

This guy is a great blend of a ridiculously odd gimmick and nasty aggression. That aggression is what makes him believable in a feud, in spite of his glittery ballroom-dancing angle.

In his attacks on Chris Jericho, Fandango has been like a wild animal uncaged, and that helps to make him a good heel.

If he were just receiving heat because of his insistence on ring announcers properly pronouncing his name, he wouldn’t have much shelf life.

But because he’s athletic and ruthless, this is just the beginning of a solid run for him. Look for Fandango to shine in the ring with the legendary Chris Jericho.

Naomi

Both of the Funkadactyls are limber, exciting and very easy on my eyes in the ring, but Naomi has the brightest future. She has tons of charisma and she lights up the screen in her matches.

When you see her wrestle, it makes you wonder why it took so long to get her and Cameron in the ring on a regular basis.

I hope I’m not being too presumptuous in thinking that the Funkadactyls’ feud with the Bellas will lead to regular in-ring action for Naomi and her partner.

After all, what other Diva is more exciting—including champion Kaitlyn?

Naomi will put on a show and the team of the Funkadactyls and Tons of Funk will be victorious on Sunday night.

John Cena

I can hear the boos through my computer speakers as I type this, but critics of Cena must admit that he has been solid in most, if not all of his pay-per-view appearances in the last two years.

This guy just can’t win with fans, and even though I know it’s just a persona, it has to eat at him a little.

He and the Rock put on an exciting match at WrestleMania 28, and it will be difficult to top that on Sunday.

While the action may only be on par with, and not above last year’s clash, I fully expect Cena to show himself to be the full package of athletics, dramatics and timing in the main event.

Follow me, because wrestling is a part of our lives.
