WWE WrestleMania 29: Most Important Factors in Creating a Memorable Show

Tim DanielsJun 8, 2018

WrestleMania day has finally arrived. After weeks of hype, speculation and a build that came on strong at the end, it's time for the biggest wrestling event of the year. The WWE hopes the show will steal headlines on Monday and provide some lasting momentum.

There are a lot of factors that go into creating a successful show. Everything from the atmosphere inside MetLife Stadium, to the entrances and all the way through the in-ring action gets taken into account. There's very little margin for error.

Let's take a look at the three most important factors when it comes to creating a show that everybody will be talking about. They are all overarching themes that would allow both diehard fans and casual viewers to enjoy WrestleMania.

Title Change

The year's biggest show wouldn't be the same without at least one title change. The emotion that comes with winning a belt at WrestleMania is often genuine because Sunday night's show is like the Super Bowl for WWE superstars.

There are a couple different options to fulfill this factor. Jack Swagger could defeat Alberto Del Rio to become the World Heavyweight champion or have Dolph Ziggler run down after the match and cash in his briefcase. Speaking of Ziggler, he could also become a tag champ alongside Big E Langston.

The most probable title change, however, is John Cena exacting revenge on The Rock to win the WWE Championship for the 11th time. It's the perfect way to end the show and would make a lot of people, especially the younger viewers, happy.

Key Swerve

Every WrestleMania needs at least one surprising moment. Whether it's a heel or face turn, a truly shocking match result (The Rock beating Cena again would qualify) or a spot during a match that will get replayed for many years to come.

This year, one potential moment that stands out from the rest is a Randy Orton heel turn. His character is in desperate need of a change after becoming stale, and it would create an opportunity for The Shield to pick up another marquee victory.

Orton is one of the most talented superstars on the roster, but he's lost a lot of steam over the past year. Having him turn on Sheamus and The Big Show is the right move. It would allow him to start a big push back toward the main event as a reinvigorated heel.

Successful Main-Event Matches

The undercard matches will set the tone, but it's the three top battles that everybody is tuning in to see. For the show to succeed, The Rock vs. Cena, Undertaker vs. CM Punk and Triple H vs. Brock Lesnar must all meet or exceed expectations.

It's easier said than done. The Rock and Cena put on quite a show last year, so they must go above and beyond that. Punk must have some near falls against Taker that truly make people think for two seconds that the streak is over. And Triple H against Lesnar must be an absolute brawl.

If all three of those matches live up to the hype, WrestleMania will be in great shape. The pieces are in place for the WWE to have an extremely successful night. Now it just comes down to how the show is booked and how it goes over with the fans.
