March Madness East Region Predictions: Computer Trends and Picks

If the computer predictions of one online site prove correct, the 11 and 14 seeds in the East Region will both pull off upsets and advance to the Round of 32.

The OddsShark.com college basketball computer has Davidson upsetting No. 3 Marquette and No. 11 Bucknell upsetting bracket darling Butler. Both are significant underdogs, despite the East Region betting trends hinting at their success.

Davidson has won 17 straight games and owns a 6-2 ATS mark in eight recent March Madness games. Marquette meanwhile has slumped to a 3-6 ATS record in nine tournament openers over the years.

Indiana waits for the winner of LIU and JMU game, but the Hoosiers have been a lock to win and cover the spread in the opening round, going 6-1 ATS in their past seven tournament openers.

The computer picks UNLV to break its string of four ATS losses in tournament play with a 75-70 win over No. 12 Cal. And NC State is picked over Temple, a team that is 0-6-1 ATS in its last seven tournament games.
