5 Reasons John Cena vs. The Rock at WrestleMania 29 Will Exceed Last Year's Bout

John NizinskiMar 8, 2013

Anyone who is complaining about the rematch between John Cena and The Rock at WrestleMania 29: Knock it off!

Their match at WrestleMania 28 was billed as "Once in a Lifetime." Which means you only get the opportunity to witness something like that once. So why complain when you get a chance to have that once-in-a-lifetime thing a second time?

There are also many reasons why The Rock and Cena's rematch at WrestleMania 29 will be better than their match the year before.

Here are five of those reasons.

5. The Rock Will Have Less Ring Rust

1 of 5

The Rock is obviously one of the greatest Superstars to ever step into a WWE ring. But that doesn't mean that close to 10 years out of the ring wouldn't leave him with some ring rust.

His first official match after returning in 2011 was at Survivor Series. He teamed with John Cena to compete against Awesome Truth.

The Rock ended the match by pinning The Miz, but the majority of the bout was carried by Cena, probably because of Rocky's justifiable ring rust.

The Rock has since wrestled three matches. One against Cena, obviously, at WrestleMania 28, and the two others were against CM Punk for the WWE Championship.

It would only make sense that the more matches The Rock is involved in, the more his ring rust will go away. He will be in better wrestling condition when he faces Cena at WrestleMania this time around.

4. Potential Stipulation on the Match

While nothing has been added yet, I would not be surprised if WWE decides to attach a stipulation to John Cena and The Rock's WWE Championship match at WrestleMania.

Adding a stipulation will help make the rematch different from last year and also make it even more entertaining.

Having a special guest referee or making it an Iron Man match can help build the hype and make it more electrifying.

3. The Buildup Will Be Better

The match between John Cena and The Rock at WrestleMania 28 was made a year in advance.

While there were some memorable moments like The Rock throwing Cena's merchandise into Boston Harbor or the return of the Doctor of Thuganomics, the yearlong anticipation dragged on a little and hindered the buildup.

Although many expected this rematch to happen, the official buildup just started. Their first encounter on Raw since their rematch had been made official was very entertaining and intense.

I fully expect strong weekly promos to be cut by each Superstar that will make fans drooling for this match to finally come.

2. Chemistry

4 of 5

Logically, the more times you step into a ring with someone, the better chemistry you will have with that person. That should be the case for John Cena and The Rock in their second go-around.

Superstars who have that strong connection with each other usually help produce the best matches. We saw that with Ricky Steamboat and Macho Man, Undertaker and Shawn Michaels, and even with CM Punk and Cena.

It has to be expected that Cena and The Rock will be more comfortable with each other in the ring. This should result in more exciting spots, a better pace and flow and ultimately a better overall match.

1. The WWE Championship

5 of 5

The biggest difference between The Rock and John Cena's match at WrestleMania 29 and their last WrestleMania bout is that the WWE Championship is on the line.

Being the WWE champion is the peak of success for a professional wrestler. It is the top belt in the top wrestling promotion.

The Rock is currently the WWE champion and has introduced a brand-new championship belt. This is supposed to symbolize a change in WWE.

Cena has held the WWE Championship belt more times than anyone, but he hasn't held the belt in over a year.  A win will energize his character and put the face of the company back on top.

Plain and simple, every match is better when it is for the WWE Championship.
