Georgia Football Recruiting: Meet Bulldogs' 2013 Recruiting Class

The Georgia Bulldogs' 2013 class has the potential to be very good.

Mark Rich and his staff went out and landed a lot of recruits, and many of them will play a huge role in both the short- and long-term future of Georgia football.

The Bulldogs were able to add a few star recruits who will contribute right away, but Richt also did a great job of filling out the depth chart and taking care of some long-term needs.

Overall, this class is extremely strong, and Georgia fans have plenty to be excited about.

Let's get to know Georgia's 2013 recruiting class.

Analysis

With Aaron Murray coming back for his senior season, there's really no need to rush Ramsey into the fold. Once Murray moves on, Ramsey should be able to compete for the starting spot, though, so a redshirt year would be great in terms of having the extra year of eligibility. Ramsey is the No. 6 pro-style quarterback in the 2013 class, according to the 247Sports Composite.

Analysis

Tramel Terry should most likely redshirt his first year with the Bulldogs. He's a talented receiver recruit who has the potential to be very good, but that extra year could be very useful in regards to rehabbing a torn ACL he suffered in December.

Analysis

Tray Matthews is going to be a big-time backup at safety as a freshman, and he'll also most likely make an impact on special teams. With Shawn Williams and Bacarri Rambo moving on from Georgia, look for Corey Moore and Connor Norman to take over. Matthews is the No. 11 ranked safety recruit, according to the 247Sports Composite, so he'll eventually be a big player for Georgia's defense.

Analysis

Atkins is a big defensive tackle recruit who should really benefit from enrolling early. He has terrific size at 6'4'', 300 pounds, and he's ranked as the No. 1 prep school defensive tackle, according to the 247Sports Composite. He'll compete with Jonathan Taylor for starting reps.

Reggie Wilkerson has the talent to be a factor in the defensive secondary right away for Georgia. He'll most likely find himself behind Damian Swann and Devin Bowman on the depth chart, but he could compete for time as the No. 3 corner. He'll have an advantage over other cornerbacks from this class because he is enrolled early.

He projects to be a great special teams player right away, but he could also see some backup reps behind Amarlo Herrera and Brandon Burrows.

Reginald Carter

Much like Rankin, Carter will be an important backup right away. He also projects to be a good special teams player. Look for Carter to compete with Rankin for backup time at inside linebacker, and that should be a good backup competition to watch early on for Georgia. Carter is ranked as the No. 16 inside linebacker in the nation, according to the 247Sports Composite.

J.J. Green

He'll be good on special teams as a freshman, and in time he could end up being a very good nickel corner for the Bulldogs.

Josh Cardiello

Depth at guard is going to be huge in the next few seasons for Georgia, so Cardiello is a great recruit to have enrolling early. He has good size and is a big in-state recruit. He'll compete for a backup spot behind either Dallas Lee or Chris Burnette as a freshman and he could end up being one of the eventual replacements once those two move on.

Jonathon Rumph

Don't be surprised if Rumph finds his way into the rotation in his first year. He has incredible potential at 6'5'', 215 pounds, and he runs a 4.60, according to 247Sports. He could be a big-time deep threat for Georgia, so look for him to see the field early—especially in the red zone.

Analysis

Chris Mayes is an absolutely huge recruit at 6'4'', 330 pounds ,and he fits the 3-4 system perfectly. He's ranked as a strong side defensive end, but at 330 lbs., chances are Georgia will look to move him inside to the 0-technique. He'll be a big two-gap defender in the middle, and he should be a good backup. There's also the option of having him drop some weight and play defensive end, where he would be strong against the run.

Quincy Mauger
