Rangers' Marian Gaborik Beats Bruins in Overtime with Hat Trick Wonder

Gabe ZaldivarJun 3, 2018

Marian Gaborik scored three goals on Wednesday, helping the New York Rangers get past the Boston Bruins in overtime—but it was his last goal that we'll be talking about for some time.

It was almost too much to ask of the 30-year-old winger, but he had one more left in the tank. Not only did he have one more goal, though—this was one of the best we have seen in the very early part of the lockout-shortened season.

A tip of the hat to SportsGrid for spotting this wonderful moment that New York absolutely needed to get on the winning side of things.

In a shortened season, the Rangers came out and dropped two games immediately—one to the Bruins to start the season and again on Sunday against the Penguins.

It would be very easy to see the entire season slip away with so few games. You can imagine how much Rangers fans must have been gripping in merely the third contest of the year.

Gaborik, for his part, was already sitting on two goals, both of which he scored in the first period of Wednesday night's clash.

Just as overtime started, Gaborik got a turnover and sprinted down the ice, only to slap a shot off Tuukka Rask.

The puck ricocheted and spiralled up and to the left side of the goal.

Gaborik showed patience and amazing coordination to wait and slap that bad boy in for the game winner.

I guess you could say Gaborik had a pretty good game.
